THE CURE, RADIOHEAD, and THE PIXIES are confirmed for this years' COACHELLA festival. The event will take place on May 1 and May 2 at the Empire Polo Field in Indio, CA. The Cure will also release a 4-disc box set later this month titled, "JOIN THE DOTS: B-SIDES AND RARITIES, 1978-2001 (THE FICTION YEARS)." For more info go to--www.thecure.com.
Hot new LA based band, FEATHERGUN, will perform at Nicholby's (Ventura, CA) on 2/6/2004. Check out the band and their music at Feathergun.com. In other local music news; SWAY will perform at the LIVERY THEATER in Ventura on Feb. 29...RAIN CHECK will be unveiling a new 3-song disc to fans/friends. The band will join THE CORSICAN BROS. and several other acts at Nicholby's on Jan. 25 for a benefit for The Tri- County's Labor Foundation "Hardship Fund" for UFCW members. Seven-time Grammy Award winner, ALANIS MORISSETTE, will return with a new album in April titled, "So-Called Chaos." This will mark her sixth release for Madonna's label (Maverick Records.) The first single/video called, "Everything," is due in late Feb. Alanis has plans to tour in support of this album. In addition, Alanis and her band also intent to release an acoustic album later this year.
The RIAA is getting ready for one more stab at music downloaders by putting FBI Warning stickers on cd's. They will use these stickers as scare tactics. So far, the RIAA has sued 914 suspected online pirates.
GARBAGE has chosen to work with an outside producer for their next album. John King (one half of The Dust Brothers) is the chosen one. The band is scheduled to start work this month. Late last year--a backhoe tractor smashed into their studio, Smart Studios. Luckily, this happened in the early morning before the members of Garbage arrived. This is also the studio where Garbage drummer/mastermind, Butch Vig, produced bands such as; Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, and about 600+ other bands. The 4th Garbage album is rumored to be out by this summer.
Madonnasworld.com reports that Madonna will release, "Love Profusion", as a double-single on February 24th. The video is set to premiere on MTV early next month. The song has recently been used for Estee Lauder's Beyond Paradise fragrance commercials.
And, finally--Queensryche will release a DVD titled, "The Art Of Live." The live/backstage video collection will be packed with extras. Queensryche also recently released their new album, "Tribe", on DVD-Audio format--which also includes a music video, "Desert Dance." For more info go to Queensryche.com.
